Large, heavy paws made their way over the soft ground that this large wolf was so familiar with. His surroundings made him feel, a bit anxious though, considering his feelings that were smothering him. The grey males face was calm, but his eyes showed how nervous he was to be entering this world again. Although this male use to hold a high rank in this pack, he was welcoming himself upon their land with great caution, for he knew not many would recognize him after months, possibly even a year of being gone. His heart was saddened almost immediately, as he remembered his reason of leaving - Dusk. He had long forgotten the male he was competing against, but he was sure they were mates now, and he could finally see his love be happy again. That's all he had wanted. That's why he had left. The brute was toughened at heart again, no longer moping around. Although, he knew he'd never have a mate again, he was contempt at heart knowing he had done the right thing. Meeko paused for a moment, and raised his head to glance over the territory, casting a look over his shoulder, and grumbled something about a moon under his breath. A white she-wolf also came bounding after the grey wolf, her smile bright, and her blue eyes shone with amazement as her father figure led her back into the territory. She never thought they'd come back. She had grown even more into a fine, young she-wolf. Her fur was even whiter then before, and her eyes bright, her head full of knowledge from traveling. One specific wolf, she wanted to see, so the she-wolf, named moon kept her eyes wide and alert. It was good to be home. But they both didn't doubt being attacked as soon as the others were notified. So meeko was prepared, as well as the she-wolf moon.

”Remind me again, why you decided to come with?” Nina grumbled rather irritably. Alongside her pelt was a wolf the color of midnight, the most unwanted companion a wolf could ask for on border duty. She had bumped into the unfavorable brute on one of her many trips to get out of the den. In much surprise to her, the male continued to follow her and assist in the patrol. Well, if you could even call it assisting. The male did nothing but complain about how boring this job was, and how down the pack had become for the past few weeks, all the while shooting her taunts as if he wanted her to take a swipe at him. The sad part was, Nina would no doubt enjoy giving him a few cuts and bruises, but the brute was one of the strongest wolves within the pack during the events and could not afford to be lost. The pack needed him, there were few wolves that could hunt, but even those wolves did not always participate or bother try to help the pack. Axel, the unwanted companion at her side, helped more than they did even though he constantly spoke about this “distaste” he had for the pack. A low laugh rumbled from within the large brutes chest, pleased to see that he had annoyed this female. In honesty to himself, he had decided to come with her because she was one of the few wolves that were out and about. Most remained huddled up together in decaying clumps within the den. They were no fun to pick on, they basically waited to be taken by the hand of death. Nina, on the other hand, was active and surprisingly filled with hope and vigor this day. Spending time with her was the extents of his fun, and besides it allowed him to keep up on his witty humor and other rude comments he was particularly known for. ”Oh because I just love being in your company. Its the highlight of my day, actually.” Axel spoke sarcastically, so that she would not take his words as honest as they were. Her response was an eye roll as well as a few mumblings. Her response was none less than he was expecting, and thus he wore a grin of cruel victory. ”Seriously though,” began Axel. ”Why are you still here? Within the pack, I mean. The members are slowly descending into the endless pits of hell, our authority figures are no where in site, what true hope does The Rain Pack have?” Axel spoke with an airy manner towards his pack’s status, as if he really didn’t have a care in the world about their well being. Much to his surprise, Nina stopped suddenly and spun to face him. ”Because this is my home. This is where my family and friends are. I stay for them. You don’t abandon family. You, however, would not understand such a concept.” She made no effort to hold in her frustration. She spat out her words, and with pleasure she saw his eyes harden and his jaw clench. Had she struck a nerve? ”What about you? Huh? Why are you still here?” Nina snapped, glaring at him as her tassel thrashed behind her. Axel’s demeanor didn’t even budge, he made no movement to answer her. This further increased Nina’s anger. ”Oh what?! I can tell you my reasons but you don’t dare tell me yours? What was I expecting really, you’re so pathetic I can’t--””Be quiet!” Axel hissed, moving around Nina to peer through a clump of particularly thick foliage. Behind him Nina was boiling to the brim with anger, so much that Axel would not have been surprised if steam had begun to shoot out her ears. ”Oh hell no! You can’t just--” Nina shot words at him again, stalking up beside him so that she may glare him in the eye. She was interrupted once again, cut off by Axel. ”We have company.” Growled Axel, his voice low and threatening. Nina followed his gaze, surprised to actually see the figures of two wolves walking their way through the territory without a care. Storing her anger for later, Nina focused on the two wolves as they waited for the two strangers to get closer. Once the wolves were within a few bounds Nina stepped out into their path. Her lips were raised as well as the hairs along the back of her neck as a defensive snarl was released. As she had their immediate attention Axel had maneuvered silently through the wood and came out behind them. He stood his full height, muscles tense and easy to spot as he matched Nina’s snarl. Unknowingly they both agreed on something, the pack was not dead yet, and therefore they both would protect it from outsiders. It was Nina who spoke first, her voice sounding out over Axel’s continuous snarl. ”You are trespassing on Rain Pack lands. You have two minutes to explain yourselves.” Nina’s voice was hostile, a pleasant sound only to Axel who had long wanted to see this side of her in action. There was no need for either of them to vocalize what would happen if the duo failed to explain themselves, the threat was as obvious as the absence of birds in the sky. Meeko had turned and rolled his eyes at the young female he had adopted many years ago as a pup. The female he had named moon was rambling on about how she thought the sky cried, and why it hadn't in a while. She said something about the sky turning happy and maybe that's why it didn't cry anymore. Meeko's attention was directed away from her rambling as he sensed other wolves in the area and mentally prepared himself. For what? He asked himself, scanning the woods with cold, glassy eyes. Possibly for the same reason he left in the first place. Dusk. A hurricane of emotions and memories flashed through his mind and small innocent memories crept in. He could still smell her scent after a long, busy day. Or after a storm when they would all go on a boarder patrol. He saw the fury in her eyes when her alpha instincts came into play, and the love in her voice when she raised Moiru. He shook his head to get out of the daze of memories and focused his eyes on the woods around him again. The males huge towering body was intimidating, and Meeko used that to his advantage. His muscles rippled throughout his body, and he lowered his skull, the hairs on his back prickling and a small growl rumbled through his chest. Moons eyes went wide as she started to panick, and spun around to meet a very large, and frightening brute. She stumbled backwards into Meeko, recollected herself and stood taller, letting her tail point straight out, and tilted her head slightly upwards; she looked like she belonged in a fancy palace. She had pure white fur, and steel blue eyes, usually full of curiosity and compassion was now replaced with a fire. Meeko chuckled, which was almost frightening in itself. It wasn't one of those laughs that you have when your having a good time, it was dark and deadly. He cocked his head to the side. "Who are you? " he shifted the questioning back at the fae, clearly not intimidated by either of them. Moon on the other hand was a bit nervous at meeko's response. Meeko had always been a sarcastic, and rather rude male on the outside. Only some of the original members, dusk and moon had been able to get past that protection layer, although he usually was rather polite and respectful towards pack members he knew. He did not seem to remember these two though and had the natural instincts to protect his pack from them.

The large black brute grinned as a menacing laugh expelled from him as the small lupa stumbled backwards. His hair still stood on end as he put one paw in front of the other, stalking a bit closer to the girl before coming to a stop. He would have to wait before bringing harm to this little girl, meanwhile he watched Nina and the unknown male. It was most evident he would end up being the primary threat, and Axel had little faith Nina could take him on alone if need be. Besides, they could always track down the skittish fae later if it came to it and she ran.
Nina's hair remained on end and her snarl intensified once the unknown male began to growl. How dare he growl at her! He was in no position to be the one making threats. Her eyes narrowed into an icy glare as a laugh as cruel as can be radiated from the lupes deep chest. She grit her teeth and allowed it to show as he cocked his head to the side, as if he was attempting to be charming. He would learn quickly that his masculine escapades would not work on her. She'd had enough time so that her heart too seemed to be surrounded by ice, an impossible barrier.
"You are traspassing on Rain Pack Lands. I am a protector of those within these boundaries, and you've crossed the line. It is I who should be asking," She growled, stomping one paw forward as she looked up to this male with a look that would have cut. Her own size was remarkably greater than most females, but still it was often she still had to raise her gaze to look at others. She allowed this to fuel her and give her strength, she may not be taller but she was still a force to be recogned with. "Who. Are. You." She spat each word, her tail lashing behind her. Her confidence demanded to be recognized as she stood before the male.
